Gerber Vinyl Cutter

The Gerber Vinyl Cutter is one of the most powerful vinyl cutting machines that are sold today. Gerber was one of the first few brands in the market that started selling vinyl plotters to the people. However, the vinyl plotters have since disintegrated in terms of efficiency and quality, in the eyes of many people. A vinyl cutting machine is a machine that is used to cut vinyl. Vinyl is a material that is made of varying thicknesses and is applied in a whole host of applications. Vinyl can be spotted almost every where in daily life, and you can easily see it being used in several daily applications such as window clings, siding for homes, pressing of letters and vinyl is also used in the making of signs. Now, because vinyl is a chemical compound with a certain formula, it becomes very hard to cut it in to the various shapes and sizes in which it is used.

Gerber Vinyl Cutters come in a variety of models, with the Gerber Tempo 600 Plotter being highly prominent and used by many people in the industrial side. Another distinct thing about the vinyl cutters from Gerber is that they are sprocket fed machines. What happens with a sprocket fed machine is that you can't use tee shirt vinyl while using them. This highly lowers their sales as compared to friction fed machines. Gerber was one of the first to come out with a vinyl printer, which was known as the Gerber Edge. It’s a thermal printer, which means it uses ribbons and only prints about 11″ wide on 15″ media exclusively. For every color in your design (CMYK process color), you need to re-run your print after you’ve loaded in a new ribbon. Gerber were the first, so everyone wanted one of these printers, but since then, they haven't changed much and their products are still pretty much the same as compared to the rapid advancements in technology, and they still use the same process and still only accept 15″ media. And a Gerber plotter still costs around $15000 to purchase a new one. Every application would require a different type of a Gerber Vinyl Cutter. A Gerber vinyl cutter has several cutters in it that cut the vinyl in to the different types of shapes and sizes so that it can be used. Various cutters are available in the market, and they all have different specifications. How the machine works is extremely simple. All you have to do is that you would have to feed the vinyl in to the Gerber vinyl cutter from its rear and then just stand back and let the vinyl cutter do its job. Then, after inserting the vinyl sheet through the vinyl cutting machine's rear, you would have to specify the size and parameters of the sheet that you want to get cut.

Overall, Gerber vinyl cutters are employed by people who wish to print out specific designs of one same size because other wise you would have to purchase a whole new plotter as Gerber vinyl cutters cannot be changed due to their fixed plotter that can never be replaced. Also, as it is a sprocket fed machine, it cannot print on t shirt vinyl, so their uses are also limited in certain aspects.
